As part of the HSI Initiative and in collaboration with the Academic Advancement Program (AAP)the HSI Advising & Retention team hosted their first Culturally Responsive Advising training in March. The nearly 30 advisors from across campus shared that the experience helped them better recognize and name the incredible strengths our students bring to UCLA. Using Tara Yosso’s Community Cultural Wealth framework, they explored key forms of student capital – like familismo, linguistic strengths, and navigational skills.
